CriticalCorps foregrounds critical inquiry as a key aspect in design research and serves as a counterpoint to design activity. In academic settings, processes of making (design) should be accompanied by processes of analysis (critical thinking); studio courses in design, sketching, and model making should be balanced with courses in design theory and cultural studies. As a design+material culture program located within the College of Design, CriticalCorps is unique, and perhaps the only such endeavor in the US. CriticalCorps is currently engaged in pursuing relevant grants, consultancy projects, and other sources of funding.
