The practice and theory of architecture often explores concepts of (trans)portability, adaptability, deployability, and sustainability of built environments from material, cultural, and technological points of view. Transportable environments are typically understood as portable structures that can be relocated with relative ease, erected and dismantled quickly, constructed from non-traditional materials or those that may be deployed as short-term shelters. However, this merely represents the physical dimensions of environments created by architectural enclosures. Environments may also be conceived as mental rather than corporeal, imagined rather than built, ethereal rather than corporeal, and perceived rather than prototyped. Also, such environments need not always be buildings; they may be portable gadgets. In this project, we explore the meanings of moving architecture, transient spaces, temporary structures as well as portable objects, and mobile miniatures.
